Currently you cannot do it via Thunar and have to resort to command line, eg: 'sudo chown -R username:group /some/path' The way that Konqueror's setup is ideal, but does not need to be completely replicated. Although it should only be allowed to via root user and using Thunar, perhaps there could be a prompt for root password if trying to set a user that is not yourself?
Perhaps have on check box each for "Write", "Read and "Execute" for Owner, Group and Others, I don't think that would take up too much space.

I think adding a owner field is not messing up the GUI. I think is a nice idea allow change owner. Thanks for your work! nice project!
A drop down list of available users instead of the static text with the name of actual owner and a checkbox for setting the premissions (and the owner) recursively would be nice... Oh... and maybe a 'Cancel' button...
