I'm using Debian Sid's Xfce package (4.6.1) in pt_BR (Brazilian Portuguese).

Xfce created some directories in my home directory, namely: Documentos (Documents), Download, Imagens (Images), Modelos (Templates), Música (Music), Público (Public) and Vídeo (Video).
These were directories that I didn't have already (I had IceWM and Fluxbox window managers installed before installing Xfce). But I had a 'Downloads' directory and so ended up with two, a Download and a Downloads.

I remember some time ago while using Ubuntu that once they reported that they had fixed a 'bug' by renaming 'Download' to 'Downloads'. I don't know if that was fixed in Gnome itself or just for Ubuntu.
Firefox (or Iceweasel) also uses 'Downloads' as other apps (like I don't know where my first Downloads directory came from, if from IceWM, PcManFM or Rox-Filer but it seems either they agreed upon that term or they didn't set any).

Maybe that was already discussed by you Xfce guys but if not, I think the 'Download' directory should be renamed to 'Downloads' to be more compliant with other apps.

Regards.

I think this bug comes from a change made in xdg-user-dirs 0.11, where in user-dirs.defaults "DOWNLOAD=Download" was changed to "DOWNLOAD=Downloads". Thunar is hard coded to reflect this. I'm submitting patches to
thunar-window.c and thunar-shortcuts-model.c which fix this.

Also, the user should confirm that DOWNLOAD is properly set. Run the command
'xdg-user-dir DOWNLOAD'. It should return the path ~/Downloads. On my workstation it looks like this:

miranda$ xdg-user-dir DOWNLOAD
/home/krs/Downloads

If not then edit ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs to fix the path. For the system-wide configuration see /etc/xdg/user-dirs.defaults.

The OP is actually me.
I'll like to extend this bug report and report that maybe the 'Go' menu should show shortcuts with the user's custom names (as defined in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs) and only show them if they exist.
For instance one can have 'Audio'/'Video' instead of 'Music'/'Videos' or 'Images' instead of 'Pictures' or 'Shared' instead of 'Public' etc.
Currently the shortcuts do open the correct equivalent defined in user-dirs.dirs but it would be more consistent, UI wise, that they displayed the proper names (user defined).
This change would then deprecate the original issue ('Download' instead of 'Downloads').

These items will be removed and we add .gtk-bookmarks in the go-menu.
