I might have summarized the bug poorly, as the issue is complex and multiple solutions would suit me. Problem: 1. Do: in Thunar hover any file and right click on it and hold the mouse down. What happens: this opens a context menu for the file and either topmost or lowest menuitem is shown as active (hovered, selected). 2. Do: release the right click. What happens: this counts as a click onto the selected menuitem and that menuitem gets executed. So the system expects me to right click (and hold) onto a file, move the cursor to the necessary menuitem and release the button. While I would prefer if there would be a way to configure the system (sorry, I don't know which parts of it exactly) so that it would behave so: either 1. RMB {click DOWN} would NOT invoke a context menu, only RMB {click UP} would open a context menu. or 2. Only LMB clicks could execute menuitems in context menus and RMB clicks onto menuitems would either get ignored or would close or close and reopen the context menu.
Thanks for reporting ! This is a known bug for thunar 1.6.x (see linked bugreport ) Please upgrade to thunar 1.8.x which does not show this bug any more. You as well can build thunar 1.6.x from source and apply the Patch from Bug #14216 which should fix the problem. For 1.6.x no further releases will be done, because distros already now dont use the most recent releases of the 1.6 branch. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 16388 ***
