I compiled the git version of exo on Dec 19, 2012 and exo-open wouldn't launch .desktop files, saying that "exo-open-CRITICAL **: Launching desktop files is not supported when exo-open is compiled without GIO-Unix features".

To reproduce, try:
exo-open anything.deskop
