Steps to reproduce:
1)run xfce4-popup-applicationsmenu
2)go into subcategory like "settings" or "games" with cursors
3)hit escape while highlighted item is inside some category
4)run xfce4-popup-applicationsmenu (how many times u want ;) )

Results (on my machine): xfce4-popup-applicationsmenu isn't showing up again, no matter how many times i run it.

It's unclogging after clicking on xfce4-popup-applicationsmenu applet on panel - 1st is unclogging (no menu is showing up), 2nd rly works (menu is showing up)

I had this problem also.

This might be related to bug 8472.
