I'm afraid I can't reproduce this. That doesn't mean there is no problem, of course. You do seem to be using an unstable version of Gtk, so perhaps something changed that triggers this problem more easily.
We can reproduce this every time with Xubuntu Gutsy Tribe 5 fully updated (gtk 2.11.6) and doesn't happen with Xubuntu Feisty final edition ( gtk 2.10.11 ). I don't know if this can help you.

I > don't know if this can help you. > Well, it's another indication that the problem may only be present in combination with gtk 2.11. It does make things a bit harder for me to test. I do hope the GTK devs are not making incompatible changes...
There is an easy way to test this, I use it to triage bug without really installing the development version of Xubuntu. I use Virtualbox : http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads a really simple virtual machine. And you can get xubuntu tribe 5 here : http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/gutsy/tribe-5/ Of course I can do any test you want : it might be easier :)
I see the same problem on openSUSE 10.3, Beta 2 with Gtk 2.11.6. I'd really like to see a fix.
Fixed in trunk and 4.4 branch.
Thank you very much !
