When I edit some files with root rights, I've got a red banner at the top. Do you think it's possible to have something similar for read only files ? It's really annoying after making some modifications in a file that you can't save :(

Thx

Reproducible: Always

Add a read-only banner on top of the text

Happy birthday bug 3393 !
I'm quite no sure that a banner is the best way of doing this because it is created with the windows and I don't know how add a other one after. So my patch add a permanent warning banner but most of the time, it is empty of text (and maybe confusing).
Maybe a less garish solution will be better : modify the title of the window or add a status bar (which could contain other useful informations).

update the french translations with the read only message

The patch cannot be applied anymore because Mousepad has been rewritten.
Now Mousepad displays at the window title "[Read Only]". So is it really necessary to display a banner?

The [Read Only] in the window title in the new Mousepad serves this purpose pretty well so closing as fixed.
