After building Xfce 4.4.0 with the graphical installer in ~/local and using a clean config some icons are not displayed. This includes all icons in xfce-setting-show except for xscreensaver. Setting XDG_DATA_DIRS does not fix this. These libraries were used to build Xfce: glib 2.6.4 gtk 2.6.4 libpng 1.2.8 libxml 2.6.16 vte 0.11.11 xrender 0.8.3
Maybe a GtkIconTheme bug. Did you set $XDG_DATA_DIRS properly? Did you regen the icon cache manually? Whatever it is, it's not a bug in xfce-mcs-manager.
Similar to bug #1011? I'd put my money on a stale icon cache file. Reporter, please try running: gtk-update-icon-cache -f -t ~/local/share/icons/hicolor Restart Xfce afterwards to be safe.
I tried gtk-update-icon-cache, but that does not change anything. Also quitting Xfce and running the command at the console did not work.
Do you mean that the setting manager is missing entries, or just icons, ie you can see the label but there is no icon?
I can see the labels and click them, but there are no icons. Do you need a screenshot of this?
(In reply to comment #5) > I can see the labels and click them, but there are no icons. Do you need a > screenshot of this? No, no need, I understand what you mean.
since update from 4.4.0 to 4.4.1 with changing the file location prefix from /opt/xfce4 to /usr i can confirm this for ArchLinux. Both of my systems are affected.
got it fixed for my two systems: i reinstalled our hicolor-icon-theme package and rebooted. all icons are back: in xfce-settings-show and in the panel.
