Description Lars Kellogg-Stedman 2005-06-16 19:50:59 CEST
I've just installed Xfce 4.2.2 (all the RPMS from
http://www.ca-us.xfce.org/archive/xfce-4.2.2/rpm/rh9/i386/). The settings
manager consists mostly of blank spots where the icons should be, and the
calendar application has a blank icon in the system tray.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

I will be attaching a screenshot to this ticket.

This looks really familiar, but I can't find the old bug number. Olivier, you
worked on this last time, right?
Comment 4 Lars Kellogg-Stedman 2005-06-16 20:03:15 CEST
I had opened the same bug last year...I didn't find it using the simple search
(I guess the simple search doesn't look at reporter email addresses or bug
descriptions). It turns out it's bug #490. Should I mark this as a dupe of
#490 and re-open the older one?
Comment 5 Olivier Fourdan editbugs 2005-06-16 20:05:12 CEST
Sound very similar to #366

The thing is, I didn't see that when building on RH9 here and I don't think
anyone changed anything since the bug was fixed the last time....
Comment 6 Brian J. Tarricone (not reading bugmail) 2005-06-16 20:12:36 CEST
Ok, so it looks like you're back to the same state as 4.2rc1. Have there been
releases of Xfce since your last bug report where it *did* work? Which releases
have you tried?
Comment 7 Lars Kellogg-Stedman 2005-06-16 20:43:35 CEST
I haven't used a version that did work (since whatever I was running
before 4.1.91 or so). I haven't seen this problem on FC3, but it's
been consistent on my RH9 box. I haven't tried a complete reinstall
of the RH9 box.

If absolutely nobody else is seeing this problem, I'll just ignore it.
This system is due for an upgrade anyway.
Comment 8 Brian J. Tarricone (not reading bugmail) 2005-06-16 20:55:00 CEST
Mmm, this is just weird. Are you by chance using gtk 2.2.x on the RH9 box?
It's very possible that icon theming doesn't work properly there.

Otherwise, I really think this is a packaging problem, and not a code problem.
Comment 9 Lars Kellogg-Stedman 2005-06-16 21:10:53 CEST
RedHat 9 does use gtk 2.2.

I was sort of suspecting a packaging problem, but if that were the case I'd
expect everyone using RH9 to see the same problem.
Comment 10 Radek Podgorny 2005-09-09 15:33:58 CEST
Having the same problem here on Gentoo. Xfce 4.2.2, GTK 2.6.8 ...don't hesitate
to ask me further...
Comment 11 Harold Aling 2007-09-23 12:59:10 CEST
Xfce 4.2, RH9, GTK 2.2 -> ye olde stuff...

I don't suppose this get's fixed in the near future...
