I've just installed the 4.1.91 RPMS onto a RH9 box. There seem to be some pixmap related problems -- for example, all but two of the settings panels are missing their icons (screenshot attached), and the xfce4 calendar icon doesn't show up in the systray -- but clicking on the appropriate spot does bring up the calendar.
Created attachment 101 Xfce settings manager missing most of its icon
Please, could you try to update to the RC1 release: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/xfce/xfce-4.1.99.1-rpm-rh9.tar.bz2?download
I've installed 4.1.99.1. The settings window now has *more* icons, but it's still missing most (see the attached screenshot).
Created attachment 103 Screenshot from 4.1.99.1-1. With the RC1 RPMS, there are a few additional icons in the settings manager, but most positions are still empty.
Could you give the exact version of GTK that you are using?
simple test, can you run "xfwm4 --version" and post the result? (that should give the version that was used to create the RPM and the one you are running on your system)
along with the other output requested, could you post the result of "rpm -qa" on your box? I'll try to compare that with the same on my RH9 box.
As described in xfce4-dev, I have the same problem here on a SuSE 9.2 box, but only with rc2, with rc1 I had no problem. A screenshot is at http://www.bwalle.de/temp/shot.png.
Could you test this tarball: http://www.xfce.org/~jasper/libxfcegui4-4.1.99.3.tar.gz
Ok, it works for Bernhard and as far as I can see Xfce should now always find the fallback icons. Please reopen if it isn't fixed with the attached tarball or in Xfce 4.2RC3.
