Please reconsider a support of ellipsizing for the next, 2.0.0final, release of Thunar. As discussed in Bug #2505, this feature will break some usability, so:
1. This could choicable by user as an option in Preferences, which is disabled by default. Also, there could be a notice, that with this option user will not be able to see several long file names at once.
2. This feature must be only for "View as Icons", for other two modes it is useless.
The purpose of this feature would be more convenient arrangement of icons, when long names are spoiling the spaces.

Thanks.

Hello, is this bug still reproducible for you?
If by "ellipsizing" you mean rounding the corners of the selection marker, I can tell it works for me (adwaita GTK theme on Thunar 1.6.3-1, Debian Jessie).

Can we close this?

This might be improved with GTK3. Closing for the time being.
