Description Chester Doran 2019-05-21 18:24:41 CEST
Overview:
Clicking "Insert emoji" in the right-click context menu on the search box limits the search to a single character.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Ctrl-F or start typing to bring up search box.
2) Right-click in the box and select "Insert emoji"
 - Search bar disappears and you're unable to close Thunar or type to search
3) Left-click on a file icon
 - You can now close Thunar or search
4) Start typing to bring up search box

Expected results:
Able to type more than one character and search as normal.

Actual results:
Only one character is input and anything after is ignored, including the enter key.

Additional details:
Fedora 30 (Xfce spin)
Thunar 1.8.6

Which version of exo? It could be bug 15100 (comment #5 mentions the problem with input being ignored).

Yep you're right, exo 0.12.5 fixes the issue (I was using exo 0.12.4). I do apologise, I had no idea exo was responsible for search. However Thunar is still unable to be closed when right-clicking and selecting Insert emoji. Is this also an exo issue?

It probably is. The search bar just disappears when right-clicking it and no "Insert Emoji" dialog is shown. This is a bug too, and it is most likely part of the lockup problem.

I suggest to open a new report.
