Right after arch linux upgrade to Thunar 1.8.3-2 I get the following message: (thunar:3548): thunar-CRITICAL **: 07:34:20.348: Name »org.freedesktop.FileManager1« auf dem Nachrichten-dbus verloren, wird beendet. translation: 07:34:20.348: Name »org.freedesktop.FileManager1« lost message-dbus, terminating and Thunar does not start. I am running arch with deepin desktop. I do have the deepin file manager installed but prefer thunar, which is set as the default file manager. When I downgrade to thunar 1.8.2-2 everthing works again. Thanks for a great file manager!!
Thanks for reporting! There is a ongoing discussion on Bug #12414 which possibly is related. Please check if you have the file: /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.freedesktop.File Manager1.service ( or possibly org.xfce.Thunar.FileManager1.service ) If so, removing this file and than re-login should preliminary fix your problem. My guess is, that some other FileManager as well claims the same DBus Service. I'll check what I can do about it. Do you get this message at startup ? Or on every thunar launch ? Or only if you use the org.freedesktop.FileManager1 service ?
Ok, I can reproduce the bug by first starting nautilus, and than starting thunar. (First make sure that thunar daemon is down with thunar -q )
Created attachment 8269 dont exit on name-lost Attached patch will stop thunar from exiting on lost freedesktop.Filemanager1 dbus name. Just a warning will be printed. Planning to release this patch soon as 1.8.4, since it is a critical problem.
