I know it's a feature-request, not a bug but don't know where to post. Wanted to say that the default thumbnail size for images and videos are very small. I know I can zoom them by pressing ctrl+ but that'll zoom everything and icons like the folder icon gets too big, even bigger than the thumbnails themselves. Video thumbnail is very important to frequent video-watchers and people working with videos and the current thumbnail sizes isn't doing the job for us. Thumbnail size can be individually tweaked by many file managers including Gnome, Unity. I looked online and didn't find anything like that for Thunar. Please consider adding an option like that or increase the default size only for thumbnails.

I would like to second Junalds request whilst highlighting that this request doesn't apply just to videos but also images and anything else that Thunar can generate graphical thumbnails of (PDFs, postscript files?).

The current maximum thumbnail size that Thunar allows is too small to be properly visible when you are using a 4K+ display - that is the main reason I would like to see the max thumbnail size increased.

I have tried Thunar 1.8.0 under Arch but the maximum thumbnail size hasn't been increased, the max size it is still too small for 4K displays so the target milestone for this feature request needs to be updated.

Thanks

I just introduced large thumbnails to master and the 4.14 branch. Details see bug #14451

Seems to fix as well this bug. Will be released in thunar 1.8.2

@ Ali

Maybe there is some problem in tumbler regarding video thumbnails ?

I installed all packages mentioned by the following post, but it did not help for me:
https://www.reddit.com/r/debian/comments/2vihi7/how_to_get_video_thumbnail_in_thunar_jessie/coi1mq1

Only after installing ffmpegthumbnailer, I got video-thumbnails.

Continuing discussion from bug 14451-
As we can see in above attachments, the default size of thumbnails in Thunar is less than half the size of thumbnails on Windows 7 file manager. At 200% zoom, thumbnails in Thunar is still a bit smaller. In Thunar folders are much wider and gap between files/folders are also larger. In 300% zoom the gap gets smaller but then the folders occupy most of the space. So zooming the view to enlarge thumbnails means much less files gets shown.
