Description Thaddaeus Tintenfisch editbugs 2014-08-20 22:50:59 CEST
If I move/copy a file to the desktop with drag and drop, the drop position on the desktop is ignored.

I can reproduce this with thunar or file-roller (and probably other programs too).

Affected versions:
4.10.0
4.11.6
4.11.7
Comment 1 haarp 2019-03-27 17:57:48 CET
Additionally, when new elements are created, they always end up on the leftmost output, instead of the output they were created on. See https://www.reddit.com/r/xfce/comments/b6341f/new_icons_appear_on_the_wrong_monitor/ejhm472/

4.13.3

That is a new bug in 4.13.3 (https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15198).

A first attempt. This implementation is not ideal, because in some cases it does not strictly pair the right-click or drop event with the actual file creation.

The feature can be activated via the new setting "/desktop-icons/create-under-cursor".

Tested patch in xfce-test and drag and drop and creating a new entry both work, but when i restart xfdesktop, the position for drag and drop items is lost.

Thanks for testing it. Saving works now with this updated patch.

Thanks for that patch Theo .. a feature I really miss :)

Seems to be fixed with the new wip patch

Imo the default should be true for "/desktop-icons/create-under-cursor", I think that is the expected behavior.
.. I wonder if we even need a xfconf setting for it at all.

I installed it now on my system .. if I find something strange, I will report here.
