I just closed bug 10814 which requested the same feature, unfortunately I have overlooked your patch. This is the commit that introduced support for engrampa: https://git.xfce.org/thunar-plugins/thunar-archive-plugin/commit/?id=631c14c1750e8bc7a37bc0bd1b4fee26d6adc381 I think that the only noticeable difference wrt your patch is the creation of mate-engrampa.tap symlink, is that really necessary?
I always copy ark.tap to a new file engrampa.tap, changing "ark" by "engrampa". But it would be nice have this new tap file created automatically.
Support for engrampa is available in thunar-archive-plugin 0.4.0 which is compatible with Thunar >=1.7.0. Thunar 1.8.0 (stable) will be released very soon.
