So, this problem started up on my arch installation after transitioning from KDE. After I've been running the machine for more than two days or so, the panel will start freezing at fairly random intervals. Killing the panel normally (via kill PID) won't get rid of it, which tells me it's probably more than a rendering issue.

An interesting note: The notification area still responds, adding and removing programs that go there. The other plugins (window list, clock, etc.) however, do not. Right clicking also fails to bring up a prompt, including in the notification area.

Running the panel from a terminal (after it has frozen) doesn't produce output upon freezing. On startup it complains a bit about libpager (setting pager rows returns false), but that's hours before the problem starts, and it doesn't appear to affect the pager plugin at all.

So, a quick summary:

* Panel locks up, takes a TERM signal to kill.
* Although the panel is frozen, the notification area responds.
* No strange output from the program directly.

I'll provide some system specs.

uname -a: Linux 3.7.5-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jan 28 10:03:32 CET 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux

XFCE: Package version 4.10.0-1

Nvidia Driver version 313.19-3

CPU: AMD FX (4-core, pre-bulldozer) clocked at 4 GHz

8GB RAM

I hope that's enough information. It's not a terribly annoying issue, but it does seem like something needs to be fixed.

Some extra information I just noticed:

The Audio Mixer plugin responds to both left and right clicking, while the notification area responds to left clicking, but not right clicking. Neither of these actions, nor unresponsive clicking, produce any terminal output.

So, after some searching I discovered the PANEL_DEBUG option. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to show much. This is a short run of it launching, crashing within 10 minutes, and me killing it. I made sure not to run any other programs than the panel itself.

The reason I say it doesn't look like it will say much is because all of the above was displayed on the start of the application. The rendering crash doesn't spawn any extra text of its own, and I learned from another run that it still responds to Ctrl+C. (It says it's shutting down, but the panel stays, as does the process)

Anyway, here's the output.

Sorry, this issue is very old and there is little information to go on. Please create a new report if you still have this problem with 4.14.
