For some reason, the "Version" field above did not allow me to specify 1.6.2, but this is 1.6.2, on arch linux.

Upon seeing Thunar not sort according to LC_COLLATE as my shells do, google informed me that setting .config/Thunar/thunarrc:MiscCaseSensitive=TRUE should at least get me some of what I want.

Unfortunately, it does not. It seems this setting is ignored in 1.6.2? "bin" in my home directory stills sorts before "Desktop", with "lib" in between "Downloads" and "Music", and so on.

Now, I'd most love someone to just change over to <something that honours LC_COLLATE> for sorting, but barring that, can I at least have MiscCaseSensitive (back)?

It's at the moment rather unhelpful to have Thunar disagree with my shells...

Has this been read by anyone?

Settings are stored in xfconf, so a /misc-case-sensitive works.

xfconf-query -c thunar -n -t bool -p /misc-case-sensitive -s false

Thank you, with s/false/true/ that worked for me.

I take it this means that my .config/Thunar/thunarrc (which was a "default" sort of thing, with all settings present but commented out) was a left-over from a previous version of Thunar.

When I just now moved it out of the way, it wasn't recreated upon restart, so I'll assume as much and request this to be closed as "not a bug".

Thanks again.
