1) Untranslatable strings The following strings in Property dialog are untranslatable: * Tab names (Locatioin, Units, Appearance and Scrollbox) * "Show scrollbox" checkbox in Scrollbox tab 2) Duplicate accelerator keys * Appearance tab #: ../panel-plugin/weather-config.c:1177 msgid "_Number of forecast _days:" Build & Platform: Build 2013-01-16 on Arch Linux
Created attachment 4855 fix-untranslatable-strings-and-accelerators.patch Thanks. I've prepared a patch with these and further corrections, which I will commit collectively with other patches on Sunday. I'll leave this bug open, please report any other findings here.
I've discovered some typo while translating: (%son -> missing space "%s on" (from Latin <i>centum</i> (100) and <i>gradus</i> (steps). --> problem with parenthesis hPa).Until 1948 --> missing space after dot
(In reply to comment #2) > I've discovered some typo while translating: > > (%son -> missing space "%s on" It may look weird/wrong because it's cheap reuse of a macro, but it is intentional and should give the right results, e.g. "(3 on the beaufort scale)". So, space is already included in %s. > (from Latin <i>centum</i> (100) and <i>gradus</i> (steps). --> problem with > parenthesis > > hPa).Until 1948 --> missing space after dot Thanks, good catch! I'll simply replace "(from Latin" with " - from Latin", that should do.
magnicient > magnificent 2003-2012 should be 2003-2013 Should there be "the" in this sentence? "The pascal, named after *the* mathematician, physicist and philosopher"
(In reply to comment #4) > magnicient > magnificent Patch prepared. > 2003-2012 should be 2003-2013 Patch prepared. > Should there be "the" in this sentence? > "The pascal, named after *the* mathematician, physicist and philosopher" I believe "the" is not required. Searching for "named after mathematician" or "named after physicist" brings up a lot of results. While I don't have a grammatical explanation available, here are some examples where it is used this way: http://oceanservice.noaa.gov/education/kits/currents/07measure1.html http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Hall+effects http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hertz
po files have been regenerated, all fixes should have been applied. Transifex may need some time to catch up with the changes. If there are any more issues, please keep them reporting here. Next po file regeneration will be in a week, if necessary. So far, thanks for your reports and help.
Config dialog->Units page: "Atmospheric pressure" should be "Barometric pressure"
Config dialog->Location: Fix duplicate mnemonic "_Altitude:" -> "Altitu_de:" (to be the same as on the units tab and to not conflict with "_Appearance").
ok ... so is it almost fixed? i think i need to update my translation script message list ;) Thank you for your effort for making a good program
Harald, I might have found more strings not available to translate in the Forecast window. Is that expected? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19823921/xfce4-weather-tootip.png
fwiw, my image above should be 100% translated in pt_BR, but some strings are in english - that's what I'm commenting to be a possible bug.
No, this is because I've already committed some patches to the repository which changed the original strings. I will regenerate the po files later this night, and then you can download the new file. However, it seems transifex might need some time until it recognizes the changes. Make sure you upload your po file before I do this regeneration, or you would need to regenerate them yourself again after the upload. I will add a section to the README how to do this, other translators might find this useful too (and it's not specific to this plugin). In short, simply execute "make update-po" in the po directory, and the file (well, actually the po files of all languages, but that doesn't matter) will be refreshed and you can continue to work on that. You will not lose changes, but the changed strings will be marked fuzzy, or sometimes obsolete - obsolete entries usually appear at the end of the file. I've also shortened some descriptions a bit, like those for speed units, precipitations and altitude because it was requested on the mailing list. If you liked the previous, longer versions, you can keep them and don't have to retranslate anything; Just decide yourself and do as you like. Also, it is not necessary to translate them literally, as that might be hard to do sometimes. The priority should be to make them understandable and comfortable to read in your own language. There are some new or altered strings on the details tab, to give credit to wikipedia. As far as I am concerned, there will be no more changes to the original strings, except grammatical or spelling mistakes people report.
As announced, I have added instructions for translators in the README file; You can access the up-to-date version quite easily here: http://git.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-weather-plugin/tree/README I have regenerated the po files and committed the changes to the repository, so all new strings should show up and the modified ones be up-to-date, assuming transifex already catched up. If you find it hasn't, please try later. The cloud values in the forecast cell tooltips are now aligned to the right (that's what those %5s are for), which looks a bit cleaner IMO, and there is a new string for RTL languages concerning the met.no logo, which most translators won't need to touch - anyway it's commented extensively. Thank you for your help with all this stuff.
missing word in psi pressure unit description: ...16 ounces) and the pressure resulting from a... => ...16 ounces) and defined as the pressure resulting from a...
Fix for high clouds description, rather for completeness' sake: - "18,000 m (59,000 ft) at the equator, where temperatures " + "10,000 m-18,000 m (33,000-59,000 ft) at the equator, where " This should be the final fix. I've finished the German translation, and while doing that I've practically read through all those original descriptions again without encountering any further mistakes.
I've fixed a mistake in the original string for the timezone tooltip. This should not bother you, as it is only an issue in the msgid, not in the translated string. All po files have been updated with this change manually. 0.8.3 is released, so I'm finally closing this bug. Thanks for your help.
