KDE is providing such feature. When the window bar is dragged on a corner of the screen then the window is resized to a quarter of the screen, on the side of the corner. KDE supported corners : top left, top right, bottom left and bottom right. I think this is an intuitive and useful feature which doesn't make the window manager bloat a lot.
I've started implementing this feature. I think that I will have patch soon (few hours) because I'm only testing it now.
