Description Strainu 2012-11-15 22:12:13 CET
Steps to Reproduce:
Attach an external monitor to the VGA port of a HP 6730 laptop, then select
this monitor as the sole output - the laptop's monitor is shut down.

After a while, unplug the VGA cable from the laptop without changing back the
output.
Actual Results:
The laptop's monitor is still turned off and cannot be turned on without a
reboot.

Expected Results:
The image should be automatically switched back on the laptop's monitor.

Hi,

Thanks for your bug report. This is already fixed with dbd76eb5 in git master (will be part of Xfce 4.12).

Hi,

I am using xfce4-settings 4.12.0 and I still have this bug; when I connect an external monitor using HDMI port and set it as the only monitor, if this monitor gets disconnected (for example electricity went off or cable unplugged), the display does not switch to the existing internal monitor.

I believe Xfce knows when the external monitor is plugged / unplugged and hence can react on it. I checked and this behaviour is present in the Cinnamon desktop environment (GNOME 3 derived).

Still present in xfce4-settings-4.13.0. If what I describe above is different from the original bug let me know and I will open a new one.
