Currently there is no way to define an alpha-value for the applications menu. For that reason the applications menu looks like an impurity if the panels have an alpha-value less than 100.

You can do that with whiskermenu, which has a lot more features anyway.

We won't be implementing this as a separate option for the applications menu as you can probably do this anyway with Gtk+3 and some clever theming.
