I tried to do it but my knowledge is too less. I think port of xcompmgr code for compositor about fades will be very great. I did it in very simple methods but Im not happy at all . This port of xcompgr code by XFCE developers will be that Im looking for :) Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. fading for opacity changes 2. fading for new mapped windows and unmapped windows 3. Actual Results: actual this is not implemented Expected Results: 1. fading for opacity changes 2. fading for new mapped windows and unmapped windows will be great ;)
Yes, this would indeed be great.
I would also like to add my support to this.
I would like to add my support to this feature as well.
I would love this function it gives the kind of mac feeling, without the 2000$ price tag =)
*bump* I found a lot of love in this request, but I'd recon that it's not really what the developers have in mind for Xfce... Anybody?
well, considering theres already a composite manager in xfwm, this would seem like a trivial thing to tack on.
Sure, patches welcome (as long it's well written).
Olivier, I'm unsure whether that feature would be implemented with existing libraries or directly within the compositor code. Is the code likely to be any different for X11 and Wayland? If so, should that bug report be set to a future milestone and looked at if/when Xfwm is ported to be a Wayland compositor?
could be added, I am not against it, but there are more interesting things to do, so a patch would be welcome (and if of good quality would probably be accepted).
Vote for it. It would really be great
