Instead of rendering a PNG file on non-transparent XPM pixels, render it on the whole XPM picture.
Advantage: Smooth edges.
It seems that there isn't a problem with XPM.
Semi-transparent pixels in a PNG will render as fully transparent.
It should be possible to render them properly.
