After opening SMB network resource and expanding it's tree with subsequent collapsing the status bar of xffm shows the remote share access password as clear text.

fixed in both 4_0 tree and HEAD. If you are doing smb navigation, it is best to update to CVS HEAD because smb navigation is about 10x faster due to internal changes in pipe communications.
