Hi, 

under ubuntu xfce versions up to ubuntu 11.10 it was possible to have the gnome file manager nautilus started with the option --no-default-window , either manually or automatically by enabling the startup of gnome functions, to have nautilus manage the desktop appearance, i.e. sort icons and show thumbnails of file contents. 

However, since upgrade to ubuntu 12.04 / xfce4.8.1 this function is broken, all that happens is

% nautilus --no-default-window
Initializing nautilus-gdu extension
Shutting down nautilus-gdu extension


Unfortunately the ubuntu guys are unable to deal with it. The guys from the bug report department claim that this is not a bug, just my inability to use a desktop. On the other hand, the guys from the question-answer-department say that this is a bug. 


Is this a bug or not? Has this function been abandoned intentionally?
