Hi. I also stumbled upon this bug and independently implemented a fix for it. However, this fix is something different from the one proposed by Andrzej, since it only affects the way plugin looks in "deskbar" mode. It also fixes the scaling of the flag icon, it is now scaled proportionally to the icon original size. Unfortunately, the patch is not against the latest version in repository, but against the version 0.5.4.3 which is posted at plugin page.
Created attachment 5024 Deskbar mode support Adds "deskbar" mode support to the plugin (it occupies less vertical space). Fixes the text and flag icon drawing for this mode.
Vasily, the fix for this has already been backported; in fact, there is a currently open call for testing of 4.10_panel_support git branch, which includes this fix along with a bunch of others and is intended for xfce 4.8/4.10. If you have a chance, please test it out.
