"single click to activate items" does not work anymore after logout/login

in the desktop properties dialog box, if I choose "single click to activate items", it works only until I logout : after next login, though "single click to activate items" is still checked, I have to double click items on desktop to activate them.
This is with xfdesktop-4.9.0 on a Mageia 2 beta 3 Linux system.

Single click continues to work after logout

Fix to make the single click setting presist over logins.
Also moved the patch over to xfdesktop.

Patch is fine, but normally the binding should sync on create.
