Description Patrick Mullaney 2012-03-20 23:00:37 CET
What happens: The notes window will forget the "Sticky Window" setting after changing desktops once (i.e. it stays sticky for one virtual desktop switch and then forgets the setting)

What should happen: The notes window should always show up on the current desktop when "Sticky Window" is set.

Steps to reproduce: Open a notes window. Click the icon in the top left corner and check the "Sticky Window" box in the menu. Change virtual desktops a few times.

Other info: I am using xfce4-panel version 4.8 installed from the Archlinux repository with the latest updates. I am using xfwm4 version 4.8 with the xfwm4-tiling patch. Windows from other programs behave as expected when they are set to be sticky.

The steps in the original description are exactly correct, but here's a more detailed description.

1. Open a Notes group
2. Click the Menu icon (top left of the titlebar)
3. Tick the checkbox for "Sticky Window"
4. Switch virtual desktops
5. Observe that the Notes group is still visible on this virtual desktop
6. Switch virtual desktops again
7. Observe that the Notes group is no longer visible
8. Switch back to the previous virtual desktop
9. Ovserve that the "Sticky Window" checkbox is no longer ticked

I am experiencing the reported issue exactly as described. I am using Xfce 4.10.0 as distributed in Slackware 14.0 (64-bit) with the xfce-notes-plugin 1.7.7 built from this build script (not that I suspect the build script in any way): http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.0/desktop/xfce4-notes-plugin/

can you easily reproduce?

did you try with git? caution, it currently only builds with --enable-gtk3 bug 10086.

Oh yes. It's very consistent. Upon toggling "Sticky Window" from the Notes window's title bar right-click menu, I always get exactly one change of virtual desktop before "Sticky Window" is unset (visibly), and the next change of virtual desktop leaves the Notes window behind.

I will try to find a moment with a suitable build environment to do so. It's only reasonable for you to ask me that, isn't it?
