The following works with Debian and was originally based on my GNOME Ubuntu sensors applet notes:

1. sudo sensors-detect (probes for various sensors, agree to everything including which kernel modules to load at boot).
2. sudo /etc/init.d/module-init-tools start
3. Add the Sensors plugin - this instance will detect all available sensors.

Please note this or similar on the goodies page - without it, only my graphics card's core temp was picked up.

thanks, though I consider the notes as not entirely correct.

anyway, most users and package maintainers didnt read INSTALL, README or the configure output.
