Hi, I can reproduce, but I'm not sure it's a bug of the displays-settings.

With xrandr, when I do:
$ xrandr --output LVDS1 --off
$ xrandr --output LVDS1 --auto
$ xrandr
[...]
LVDS1 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 286mm x 179mm
   1280x800       59.9*+   50.0
[...]

XRandr shows that the output is enabled at 1280x800, but the screen is still black.

Can you test this again with xfce4-settings 4.11.3?
Comment 3 kunda 2019-10-11 18:01:45 CEST
is this ticket still valid?
Comment 4 Simon Steinbeiss editbugs 2020-01-29 22:37:53 CET
I cannot reproduce this problem anymore (not with 4.12, 4.14 and 4.15). Please re-open the ticket if you still can.
