Hi,

In 4.9.0 libxfce4panel doesn't export xfce_panel_plugin_provider_set_orientation anymore. Shouldn't it bump its soname, as plugins built against 4.8 will break with missing symbol?
(or is it only used for external plugins, and thus it only affects external plugins <-> wrapper interactions?)

This is indeed required, but normally you bump this for the final release.
