do not use fixed size buffers for translatable strings

xfce4-timer-plugin uses fixed size buffers for translatable strings which leads to a corrupt config file and non-working alarms due to truncation (see downstream report for an example in the ja_JP.UTF-8 locale). Attached patch fixes the issue.
