Created attachment 4084 Screenshots of the version 4.8.6 and 4.8.6 with the workaround/patch Hi I'm using xfce4-panel 4.8.6-1 within xfce4.8.0.3 on debian wheezy. I'm surprised to see that the buttons of the tasklist are all of the same height when the panel is used vertically. In previous versions (4.6 and below) the buttons were spreading over the entire height of the tasklist. I enclose one picture made of two screenshots to illustrate the two situations side by side. I personally would like to have the choice between the two options (fixed height, spreading over the whole area), and even better, being able to set the maximum height/minimum height of the button. I believe this problem is known by the developers because by using some part of the code from xfce4-panel-4.9 I manage to make the panel behave the way I wanted. I'm enclosing my "workaround" in the form of a patch file, but it is not a proper patch as it breaks the behavior when the panel is horizontal. I thought I could share this workaround here for those who were in the same situation than me, and express the need for this functionality in further releases.

And is -1 not working? http://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/tree/docs/README.gtkrc-2.0#n46 Patch is broken btw.
Thank you for your answer For me, -1 is working when the panel is horizontal, not vertical. I'm sorry I'm really no expert in git and patches, but the patch I sent should work as mentionned in the readme file with the version I get straight from using the command "apt-get source xfce4-panel" (which is probably the base version of 4.8.6, without the further changes) on debian wheezy. I tried the version 4.8.6-3 from sid yesterday, but I noticed no differences. Please look at the screenshot for the behavior I would like to reproduce. Thanks
