This is a rather strange issue that I am so far only able to generate in combination with Firefox (Debian iceweasel package). PROBLEM: The Windows Menu panel applet never stops blinking in some cases, even if the original urgent-state window no more exists. HOW TO REPRODUCE: With Windows Menu "Enable urgency notification" enabled, let Firefox download a file. The download manager appears. Upon download completion, the status of the download manager window is set to urgent and depending on options set, it closes automatically. In both cases, the Window Menu button is blinking perpetually. I checked the may-be-related bug #6150 and even tried the bug #6150, comment #6 suggestion, but the only 100% reliable method of reproducing the bug is the one described above. Best regards, Jan Jansky
Note for reproducing the bug: the Firefox download manager window has to be on another desktop or NOT IN FOCUS on current desktop (otherwise the window does not get the urgent state set).
Closing as duplicate, as the other report has a patch. (I know the two are not entirely the same, but the particular firefox issue is absolutely unreproducible with recent versions, so the alternative would be to close it as invalid) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 9571 ***
