I use Opera as a mail client, so Thuderbird is useless for me. I set Opera Mail as a default client in my settings. But the indicator plugin has all the actions tied to Thunderbird.

I prefer indicator, because it allows adjusting the volume by hover & scroll.

Email icon should be removable, or it should lead to the default email client.

The plugin shows pretty much every app that registered itself for that, the plugin just consumes what indicator-messages throws at it.
