Panel separator "libseparator.so*la" doesn't remember location
Status:
RESOLVED: FIXED
Product:
Xfce4-panel

Description Patrick Yavitz 2005-02-27 18:09:43 CET
After logout the panel separator's seem to disappear or end up in a different
location on the panel. In some cases if I manually set them in the
"contents.xml" & "contents.xml.active" file they would stick. In most cases they
would'nt.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add the separator next to any plugin. "Mixer" or "System Buttons" in this case.
2. Logout and back in
3. Find the separator is missing or moved and the plugin moved to the far right.

Expected Results:
GLIB/GTK+ 2.6.2

Note: At the moment I am using an older version of the
"~/panel-plugins/libseparator.so*la" files, to temporarly fix the problem.
Compiled from an older version of the cvs panel...

- Are you running the latest version of CVS? (there were some changes).

- Were they newly added to the panel or were they there before?

Yes the current version: I checked out in Linux on the 26th and in BSD on the
27th. I have the same problem w/ both installs

Both are effected, newly added and the ones there before...

NOTE: Oddly this only seems to happen w/ Plugins & Separators, not Launchers &
Separators. By the way, great job on the panel and taskbar, they look so much
better :)

Alright, i don't see it at all and it really doesn't make sense, since the
plugin doesn't have anything to do with saving its position :/

But, because you see it only with separators and it goes away when using an
older version, there may be some memory corruption problem. I'll keep looking...

I just did a check out an hour ago just to make sure It wasn't something on my
end and I got pretty much the same exact results.

Before: http://home.comcast.net/~systemx/before.png
After: http://home.comcast.net/~systemx/after.png

Except now it's happening everywhere not just near plugins? They also don't seem
to disapear as often, instead they just move? Kinda random actually...

Not sure if any of this helps, but I thought maybe looking at a shot of it,
could give you a little more insight...

Just to let you know: you're not mad ;-) I just encountered the same problem.
This should make it a lot easier for me to fix. Please, stay tuned...

Should be fixed now (after anonymous cvs updates). Please reopen when it isn't.
Thanks.
