In the README file: http://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/tree/README there are two typographical errors: Line 43: XfdesktopIconVIew::ellipsize-icon-labels = 1 Line 52: XfdesktopIconVIew::cell-spacing = 6 "VIew" should not have an uppercase letter "I", otherwise these settings won't be applied by Xfdesktop.
