Description Morel 2011-09-18 22:45:08 CEST
My computer is an eeePC.
When I use the key to change the output screen, the screen become black, and I have to go on a tty and return on the xorg session to have it showing something.

Also, tty stay on the computer's screen, without going on the external.

PS: I'm not sure at all that I have selected the good part, I apologize
PPS: I'm not it is not a xorg problem

With the PPS you mean you are sure it is not an xorg problem? Because it looks like an issue with you video driver.

what does "xrandr -q" report?

Does the same happen with other desktop (or even a bare session)? Is the backlight of the display on or is the display all black?

I agree with Nick that it looks like an Xorg issue.

With the PPS I meant that I was not sure... It seem my thought was faster than my fingers, sorry for the typo.

I didn't try on another DE, I will when I'll go back at home and install one (this evening I think)

"xrandr -q" give me the following (without other screen connected, so I guess it is useless):

Screen 0: minimum 320x200, current 1024 x 600, maximum 4096 x 4096
LVDS1 connected 1024x600+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 220mm x 129mm
   1024x600 60.0*+ 65.0
   800x600 60.3 56.2
   640x480 59.9
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

I will restart the command at home, with the screen that give me the problem.
I will try at lunch time to have result with another, too, if it can help.

I'm back.
So, results with my 2 screens:
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1440 x 900, maximum 4096 x 4096
LVDS1 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
   1024x600 60.0 + 65.0
   800x600 60.3 56.2
   640x480 59.9
VGA1 connected 1440x900+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 408mm x 255mm
   1440x900 59.9*+ 75.0
   1280x1024 75.0 60.0
   1152x864 75.0
   1024x768 75.1 70.1 66.0 60.0
   832x624 74.6
   800x600 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2
   640x480 72.8 75.0 66.7 66.0 60.0
   720x400 70.1

I will now download an other DE (kde, because it's easier to know which packages I will need to remove :P ) and I'll give you results of the change.
But it is not probable that I can try today, my connection is slow. (aptitude say 1H to download)
