Hi All, I'am using XFCE 4.2 and I have a problem : When XFCE is auto started by kdm(kde login manager) and dont have any background image or right click on area desktop. If I quit and change the kdm to autologon to off, then everithing is OK. I type a login+password and the startup of XDFCE is perfect with background and right click on desktop area My KDE is 3.2, Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. On KDE enviroment set login manager (kdm) to autologon to "on" 2. Quit session KDE, and logon again. 3. Type username+password and chang default windowmanager to XFCE 4. When XFCE startup then reboot machine to test autologon. 5. In next boot, XFCE is startup automaticly without login, but none a desktop image and right click on desktop area. Actual Results: XFCE is startup (using kdm autologon), but none a desktop image and right click on desktop area. Expected Results: XFCE is startup (using kdm autologon) with a backgroup desktop image and right click popup menu on desktop area.
This sounds very strange. Maybe some kind of race condition?
Sorry, but I've never used KDM before. Does it start the session any differently when you use autologin? I don't really have the time to compile and install half of KDE to try to reproduce this.
I tested this, but could not reproduce errors. Tried: 1) autologin from kdm screen 2) init 3; init 5 to stop and start X and autologin 3) rebooted the system All these case Xfce started automaticaly and fine and without problems. This is hardly a Xfce problem ? Tested with KDE 3.3.1 and Xfce 4.2.1.1 I did not use xfce4-session, but plain startx script.
Now I have kde 3.3 series, and this problem does not appear. (this bug in the past I use kde 3.2 and xfce 4.2 first release) So I think that this ticket can be closed.
