unreliable file type sort order

Hi

I cannot understand how Thunar 1.0.2 (Xubuntu 10.10 fresh new) sorts files.
Especially file type.

It is highly unreliable when I want to remove some files.
This is a sure way for losing data.
Please look at the attachment.

Thanks for your attention.

I agree it would be better to have 'Type' sorted first by its mime type description and then by its file extension. I will add this if the maintainers are okay with it.

It's been over 2 years since this was opened, I can't see any other strangeness or user-unfriendliness in sorting other than this. Does anyone have any more details?

Neither sorting by type nor by mime-type seems to work as expected. Patches welcome.

Looks good to me, Thunar 1.8.14 sorts by mime-type not extensions.
If anyone still experiences issues related to this, please reopen.
