Hi, 

I'm not able to to empty the trash folder by using the right click on desktop trash icon. The empty "option" is always "grey".
I must open thunar, going to "trash" folder and empty it by using file menu.

Steps to Reproduce: Delete a file, it place it on trash folder, then try to empty it by right click on trash desltop icon, but the option rest on "grey"

System: Funtoo/linux system 
        thunar-1.2.1 (without HAL) using combo udev, policikit etc
        xfce4-4.8

This should be fixed in xfdesktop 4.8.1, can you confirm that?

With xfdesktop 4.8.1 it's ok.
