Created attachment 3462 Image showing the black box beneath the other icons. Since the upgrade to 4.8.0 my notification area is showing black boxes beneath the normal icons. If I decide to "hide" icons, sometimes the icon is associated with "Miro", but Miro is not running and has not registered an icon that session. The Miro icon looks ok, if I have it enabled. But I also hat a second black box, which was associated with no registered application, I could select "hide" on all entrys and it would still be there as the last icon shown in the notification bar. I'm using gentoo (some other information I could provide to further investigate the bug?).
Please try the 4.8.1 panel first.
Ah, I thought I had it installed.. but it was blocked by portage because of the lack of EAPI 4 support (never heard of it before)... Complicated system. ;) It works with 4.8.1, thanks for the quick response.
