While selecting a new window manager theme, scrolling through past the last theme 'Xfce' with the keyboard down arrow results in a crash of the Xfwm4 and an inability to login to the desktop environment. ** A fix to this is a manual reset of the settings using the following command in a terminal: mv ~/.config/xfce4/ ~/.config/xfce4-bak
Can you please provide a backtrace? Without a backtrace of the process, there is little chance that we can identify the source of the problem. Does that crash with a given theme, and if so what theme (looking in ~.config/xfce4-bak would tell you)

I just recently migrated to XFCE so I wanted to check out the different style options available. I started with the first style ('default') and using my keyboard cursor traversed down the list until I reached the last style ('Xfce'). From here I continued to traverse down (at the time not knowing I reached the end) and the whole window manager crashed as soon as I tried to go one style under the 'Xfce' style. I reset the computer, and a login screen would appear, but when I entered my credentials I was looped back to the login screen unable to see my desktop.
Unfortunately, that does not help much, what I need to know is: - What theme did crash (look into .config/xfce4-bak/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfwm4.xml) - More importantly, what you describe is not a crash of xfce but a crash of the X server, which means that it's a bug in the X server rather than xfce itself (crashing the window manager will not send you back to the login screen). Can you provide the Xorg.0.log of the session when it crashed?
Hi, This is a 4-year-old bug that would need to be reproduced against the latest X11 server version. We would also probably need to know what GPU you are using, what driver (with version number) you are using and what distribution you run, so we can forward the bug report to the X11 developers. If the bug cannot be reproduced or if we don't hear from the original reporter we should probably close it.
