When I open an .wmv file it says "Could not initialise Xv output" twice. The video does not start.

I am also receiving the "Could not initialise Xv Output" error message.

Configuration info:

Fresh install of xubuntu 10.10 ("Maverick Meerkat") on a Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop.

According to the owner's manual, this has an Intel video chipset.

I do note that when I enter "xvinfo" in a terminal window, I get the following output.

X-Video Extension version 2.2
screen #0
 no adaptors present

On other computers where Parole actually works, I get a whole bunch of information about the video hardware and drivers when I enter the "xvinfo" command in a terminal window.

I don't believe that this issue is a bug with Parole in my situation. I think that Xv is not recognising the video hardware on this laptop.

If there is any way I can test this theory (beyond the xvinfo command), I will check this.

Also, any suggestions, recommendations or referral to more information about configuring Xv to work on this hardware would be appreciated.

Matthias, were you able to resolve your issue? What does your machine say if you run the "xvinfo" command from a shell prompt in a terminal window?

Since both of your reports are really old, I'd like to ask you to test current master again (we switched to playbin2 in gstreamer) and report the bugs anew if they still occur. Thanks!
