hi, i'm using xfce4-panel version 4.7.1 from mr.pouit's ppa (https://launchpad.net/~mrpouit/+archive/ppa) and the systray doesn't show any apps. it's mainly apps that are in autostart (nm-applet, xfce4-power-manager) and mostly a panel-restart clears the situation. unfortunately i don't get any errors when start the panel from a shell, maybe you can point me to another way of debugging the systray and/or the panel.
Created attachment 2978 xsession-errors file here goes my xsession-errors file. hope it helps a bit. (this is after a plain boot. after killing and restarting the panel, everything [including clipman] is back to how it should be.)
Today a bunch of related changes landed in the master branch, maybe you could give it a shot, if not, i'll try to make a new devel release somewhere this week.
just checked version 4.7.2 of the panel (from the same ppa) and the issues seem to be resolved. great work!
This seems to be related to this bug (at least by title). I just re-installed Arch and Xfce 4.6.2 completely fresh. I have been using BasketNote Pads. I've noticed that its icon does not show up in the system tray, and that the system tray area is not defined. When I select to add an item to the panel, the closest it comes to a system tray is "Notification Area", but selecting it gives message that says it is already there. There is no outline to define where the tray is and one must click a number of places in the general area before Basket comes back. Any ideas? Is this the bug? Thanks.
(In reply to comment #4) > Any ideas? Is this the bug? Nope, you have a completely different panel version (4.6.2) than in the bugreport (4.7.1). Since the panel was practically rewritten from scratch for 4.7/4.8 (afaik) the two bugs can hardly be connected. Sidenote: the notification area is the systray.
Closing, 4.6 and 4.8 panel have too many code differences.
