I'm not sure of the reason, but backward and forward don't seem to work, no
matter which shortcut I employ. I remember from my Windows days that some
filetypes didn't like to be navigated in any player I tried, so I wonder if that
might be the problem, but I've tried .avi, .wmv, .mpg, and .mp4. At least the .
avi forwards in xine-ui. I thought this was an issue with 0.5.0, but it's still
there.

Let me know if you'd like me to provide you with some sample files of various
types; you could see some nice guitar performances that way. :)

Otherwise, a nice release; xfmedia's coming along!

not sure, works OK for me with mp3 and mpg.
Comment 2 Andrew Conkling 2004-12-31 07:39:29 CET
Right, didn't think to try MP3, but the same thing happens (or doesn't?).

Anything else I should try? A new configuration, perhaps?
Comment 3 Brian J. Tarricone (not reading bugmail) 2004-12-31 08:28:24 CET
you can try deleting the keybindings file in ~/.config/xfmedia/ (if you have
one), though that shouldn't be necessary. otherwise, fire up xev, and try
hitting the arrow keys to make sure they're coming up properly. also check the
value of "state" in the list of printed parameters. it should be 0x0 when none
of {num, caps, scroll}lock is on, and it should change if ctrl and/or alt is
pressed down. if this isn't the case, there's something weird with your X setup.
Comment 4 Andrew Conkling 2004-12-31 16:01:15 CET
Well, all is as you say. I normally leave my NumLock on; does that change my
ability to use it as a keyboard shortcut?
Comment 5 Andrew Conkling 2005-01-05 05:24:45 CET
OK, this doesn't work for me, even if I try a working shortcut (I tried j); is
there anything else I can try? Can I test it against Xfce's or Terminal's
shortcut editors or something?
Comment 6 Brian J. Tarricone (not reading bugmail) 2005-01-05 22:28:26 CET
do any of the other shortcuts work? is it just the fwd/backwd shortcuts that
are broken?
Comment 7 Andrew Conkling 2005-01-05 22:41:58 CET
Yes, it's just the seek shortcuts.
Comment 8 Brian J. Tarricone (not reading bugmail) 2005-01-05 23:25:56 CET
possibly-stupid question, but perhaps the streams aren't seekable?
Comment 9 Andrew Conkling 2005-01-06 05:19:56 CET
There are no stupid questions. ^_^

Since you mentioned MP3s, I've been using them as my de facto testing standard.
So, AFAIK, they are seekable. If not, can you find a file that is? Or do you
want me to provide you with a link to something that isn't (for me)?
Comment 10 Brian J. Tarricone (not reading bugmail) 2005-01-16 02:16:25 CET
yeah, a pointer to a file that you have that isn't working properly would be
great. you can attach it here, or if you'd prefer, send me a link to the file
via private email.

Sorry for the big download, but it's one of the smallest files on my system.
I'll delete it from my webspace when you're done with it, so please let me know
when that is.

Thanks!

sorry, but it works fine here.
Comment 13 Andrew Conkling 2005-01-16 15:32:33 CET
I tried a fresh configuration and all the seek shortcuts work as you have
defaulted them. However, if I change them, they no longer work. So, just to
make sure, you're not just using the defaults?
Comment 14 Brian J. Tarricone (not reading bugmail) 2005-01-16 15:56:13 CET
i tried changing forward-10s to ']', and that worked fine. you *are* using the
editor, right? not trying to edit the file directly?
