If you want to directly see current weather data you can only add it to the list of displayed elements and have the applet display that data all the time.

I’d like the applet to optionally place this data in its tooltip instead. This way one can make the applet use as little space as possible while still providing a way to have a look at the current weather data.

Planned for a later release.

You might try 0.8.1 where the tooltips have been changed to show more data, though which values are visible cannot be changed. I'm not sure I want to make such customization options available.

Further, you can't hide the scrollbox yet, but this is planned for a later release. The config dialog needs a little bit of a re-work before this can be implemented.

I stand corrected: It is already possible to hide the scrollbox by removing all of its labels. Not very comfortable, but an option to allow this in a more easy way is planned, so I'm closing this for now.
