i really would like to have a menu part to configure proxy. would be nice to have something allowing me to set those enviroment variables to every app that i launch, instead to open console, edit .bashrc, reopen console and launch the app again. some of mine apps aren't on $PATH so i use the .desktop file to launch it. i think that xfce could solve proxy too. kde and gnome does it as well, why not xfce? if such feature already exists please ignore it and if possible tell me where do i do changes for proxy.
i need too. Because some gui app don't use http_proxy OR HTTP_PROXY anymore (firefox, chrome) ecc. They watch the running DE and their proxy configuration (where DE save this setting: gconf ecc..). Please add this feature, or if exist put into some doc :) Thanks, Mauro
I've checked the firefox bugzilla on this to see how they do this in gnome: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=682832
Personally I think this would be better implemented in something that handles network configuration, like network-manager. I wouldn't even know which dialog that setting should go in in xfce4-settings.
