Hi, I think it would be a good idea to have an option to disable the compositor when it's running on battery, as compositing uses up resources mainly for eye candy. As compositing is also something we directly control, (at least if they were using xfwm) this would improve integration between xfpm and the rest of the xfce.

Isn't a bad idea, but the problem here is that switching off/on compositing is not fast/smooth, and i'm not sure this will save more power.

As was already stated before, it's not really clear whether disabling compositing saves power. Furthermore, it'd only work for Xfwm4, so I'd rather not implement this at all.
